The Ruth Borchard Self-Portrait Prize
Alvin Kofi is one of the Highly Commended artists presented in The Self-Portrait Prize online exhibition. The artworks on display have been selected by the 2021 Prize Judging Panel for their creative and distinguished contribution to the genre. The exhibition runs until 30 September 2021 (see it here).

Portrait Artist of the Year - The Final
For their personal commissions, the three finalists were given just two days between the semi-final and the final. Alvin Kofi chose to do a very personal portrait, his son Emanuel.
And the celebrity guest, Eddie Izzard, proved an intriguing sitter.
"Needless to say, I could have done with much more time to work on both pieces as neither were quite complete within the allotted time," said Kofi.
"But I congratulate Curtis Holder - a worthy winner with a unique technique."
On the road to the Final!
Alvin Kofi's Portrait Artist of the Year journey continues. His semifinal portrait of award-winning writer, Bernadine Evaristo MBE, saw him through to the Final in which he will compete with two other artists.
On seeing her portrait, Bernadine said, "it's like you have seen deep into my soul."
The final will be aired on 9th December at 8pm on Sky Arts (Freeview channel 11).

The Sky Arts flagship programme, Portrait Artist of the Year, returns to the screen on Wednesday, 14th October at 8pm.
Alvin Kofi makes his appearance in this popular series in the fourth episode on 11th November.
