Make Up

I think this image is finished. I have decided to call it 'Make Up' as opposed to 'War Paint'. You can't mask who you are, and in these times I think it's important to present, support and celebrate who we are and what gives us life - our culture.

As The Birds Fly
I started this two years ago and finally finished in recent days, during lockdown. It's an image that portrays the idea of peace that our ancestors cultivated and used, which enabled them to deal with their greatest challenges. The woman in the centre of the image has come back to teach us; the woman on the right is in a dilemma; and the woman on the left is returning to her culture. Change will only take place when we fully understand who we are and be the change we want to see in the world.

What Does The Future Hold?

A Mother looks out into the distance.
Wonder what she's thinking? Her son is at that age and she considers his future. A future in a land that may be hostile to him because his darker complexion and cultural customs will alienate him at times. The question lingers in her mind, but she can be assured that help is on its way.
